The Feud (circa. ?)

More history or fun facts! The following was told to me by my great aunt Rebecca Harding and according to her, her grandfather told her this story when she was very little. So, a long long time ago.....
William Harding (@ 1680 ±) - my great, great, great grandfather owned all the land from Heathsville Virginia to Deltaville Virginia, given to him by King James, England circa 1700. He had three (3) sons, to which he seperated the property between them. His youngest, Hopkins Harding was given the property, now known as Dividing Creek. Hopkins Harding had 2 children Elizabeth and Hopkins the II. Elizabeth fell in love with a young man from the far side of the county (there were no roads, so, we are not sure where his family lived) named William Harvey. When William and Elizabeth were married, Hopkins gave his daughter, the west side of Dividing Creek from "Hardbargain Hill" to "what is now called Cobb's Hall". So, for all those persons, looking at a map and it shows HARVEYS on one side of the creek and HARDINGS on the other side, there was never a feud, just a little family history.

The Harding grave yard, is appr 1/2 mile from our current home on Hardings Wharf Drive.
